Spirits of Westeros- Faceless Martini
Welcome to Spirits of Westeros where host, Jessica Kinney, helps you combine the love of Game of Thrones with the love of alcohol.
This weeks drink is the Faceless Martini. It’s named for the Faceless Men, an organization of assassins that have the unique power of being able to change their faces and shape shift so they appear as a completely different person.
One of the most intriguing characters on the show is one of these faceless men, Jaqen H’ghar. We first meet him in season 2 when Arya Stark frees him from a burning cage during a fight. He later smuggles her out of King’s Landing and after seeing his unique power and killing skills, Arya quickly grows to respect him. She has been making her way to Braavos ever since and is now in training to become one of the faceless men herself. Though we know little about them at the moment, the Faceless Men are a fascinating guild of killers who worship the God of Death. In their temple, the House of Black and White, they have a Hall of Faces. It holds the people who come to them to die and relinquish their bodies. Arya has been allowed to see this great Hall, but is only at the beginning of her training. Though she may get caned by Jaqen H’ghar if she answer incorrectly, rest assured all answers are correct when deciding your secret ingredient for this cocktail. Here’s what you’ll need:
A bunch of human faces. Ok just kidding:
2 oz Gin
¾ oz Lemon juice
½ oz simple syrup
1 oz of whatever flavor you have around the house and want to add. And if you think you are ready, no flavor.
Put all of your ingredients in a shaker with ice. Give it a good shake, and pour in to your glass garnished with a lemon.
